My Cool Tool

My favorite and cheapest tool is my Clover Needle Threader and Cutter. I bought a package of two last summer in Oregon. I have fallen in love with this little piece of plastic and wire. The first couple days I hand pieced in the car I hated trying to thread my needle. Then I remembered this handy little tool. One evening I used it to thread six needles on my spool of thread. What a wonderful treat to have needles always threaded, or at least six at a time. I thought my idea of having six needles threaded on the spool was something a lot of people did. When I showed my tip to Victoria I was surprised that she had never thought of having needles threaded. I can't believe I'm the only one who does this, am I?

When I am working on a binding the threader comes out of my hand piecing box and becomes part of my binding kit. It's sturdy, doesn't break, easy to use and cheap. I think I paid $1.35 for two of them. However, I've lost one of them. I've hunted and hunted for some more just like, but haven't been successful. If you find them anywhere, please let me know. I would love to have a few more of these handy tools in my sewing kits.

I'm off to sew some more binding down. My needles are ready. I have no excuses not to sew now.

I saw that at one of the quilt stores last Monday. I'll have to look around for one. I think it might be handy in my CQ box.

I have one of those that is similar but different. Mine is blue & fatter, in the end opposite the threader is an embedded razor blade for snipping the threads - invaluable on plane trips.

I have kept the gadget for the snipping part as I broke the threading part a long time ago. (They don't work too good with thicker threads like perle cotton.)

I have seen/heard of other people threading more than one needle at a time...

If I am doing hand quilting or bindings, I pre thread many needles. I have a couple of different threaders, one I like particularly well and I would love to have a back up or two; I couldn't thread a needle without them these days!

I have had a threader like that in the past -- don't where I got it or what happened to it. You are right, it's a good tool and fun while it lasted.

You know I've often read the hint about threading more than one needle but for some dumb reason thought it applied only to hand quilting. Well, sheesh, I can be dingy at times. Thanks for the tip

Hi, if you track any down over there please pop over to me and share. I've never seen that in Australia and I would organize to get one for everyone in my quilt group- I'm the only one with good close up eyes so I get the job of threading all night!!

When I taught classes for Seniors I had to thread all their needles: often 30 or 40 at a time so I learned that trick pretty fast!
