Welcome to My New Home and a Give Away to Celebrate

Welcome to my new home! I hope you like the new look!

Not much has happened here in the last few days. Today has been a "change" day at Coffee Time. Here's a before photo of our living room color. We really hated the color. We've always said it looks like something you'd see in a baby's diaper. The gray swatch on the wall was one color we thought we would use in the whole living room, but ended up deciding to use it on one wall only.
Here's the color we chose - Warm Sienna #1203 from Benjamin Moore. It is a dramatic change and color. It took us about two hours to complete the room. We still need to paint the trim, but then again, we haven't painted any trim even though we've now painted four rooms in the condo.
The only major space we have left to paint is the stairwell going up the stairs. Not bad for only living here one year. Yup, that's right. Next Saturday, Valentine's Day, we will have lived in our condo for one year.

So, to celebrate my new blog home and our one-year anniversary in the condo I will be having a Give Away. To enter the drawing leave a comment and tell me what one quilty or crafty technique you would like to try and why you want to try it. I'm not sure what the prize will be, but it will be fun. I will take names until next Saturday, Valentine's Day. If you'd like an extra entry, post a link to my new blog address and let me know you've done it.

Thanks for stopping by my new place!
Sweet P

Love the new blog!! And the new living room color is BEAUTIFUL. I love rich colors...
Why don't you just leave the trim white?

I want to learn to knit, but alas have no one to help me...and really don't need another hobby...

I love the colour you put on your walls. It is very warm colour and very cozy!

I recently just tried a new technique and now I am addicted to it! I have been experimenting with free motion quilting! I am working on my second quilt doing this technique. If you go to my blog you will see some posts about my Double Irish Chain I'm making right now.

I'd love to try some trapunto -- I love the effect.

I absolutely love the change in wall color! That is the kind of colors I like to have in my home--very rich feeling!
The one quilty or crafty technique I want to learn is the free motion quilting on the machine. Or is it squiggles? Either way, I really don't like just "stitch in the ditch" for quilts. I'd rather something that gives it character! If you can teach me, I'm more than willing to learn!

I want to make lye-based soap. I have everything I need, except for about $40 worth of supplies. I think they would make great gifts and also a health benefit compare to the store detergent stuff. The good news is that I have a birthday every year! ;)

I love the new color on your walls!!!
I would love to learn how to knit. I see on other blogs some of the knitting projects going around and it inspires me. :) I've gone into JoAnns a couple of times to look at books and feel the yarn. Maybe someday.

The new colour is great. I love deep colours on the wall. How did you manage to paint it all in 2 hours, It takes me nearly 2 hours to prep the room for painting!!!

Congratulations on the new blog theme!

my quilty tip for you to try is a way to use up all the strips leftover from bindings. This works best for lap or baby quilts.

Sew all your binding leftovers end to end, rolling them into a huge ball (as in ball of yarn). When it seems like you have lots (2 or 3 balls) decide on a width for your quilt. Unroll the strips and cut them at all that length, sewing them together, you will build a great scrap quilt.

oh yes, I updated the link address on my blog for your new blog site.

can't believe its a year already!
hey did you go to truck day???
I want to try my hand at stitchery in a little quilt.
will probably look into the pumpkin pattern that Paula, The quilter posted on her blog .
Love the look of that, might be the fall colors but I love it anyway...although the snowman on the bom thats free from Bunny Hill is adorable!

I've updated my reader...and i love the red walls...much better than the yellow.

As for a craft I'd like to try...well that's hard as I've tried so many already. I'd have to say I'd like to do more stitcheries (that's new to me) and more applique!

I cannot believe it's been a year already! The time just flew by.

I am going to try knitting. I have a "learn to knit" book, some needles & yarn. and I know how to cast on stitches. I just need to learn the rest.

and-- I liked the old room color but like the new color too. Now will you come help me paint my office... I'm stuck on deciding which color. :o)

Hi Paula - great new blog and great new room color- love it!
A quilty technique I'd like to try is Crazy Quilting. So many quilts, so little time!

Love the new color!! Something new I would like to learn is knitting or crocheting. Thanks for the giveaway.

One of these days I want to try to learn to knit. I knit with the knifty knitter now, but that doesn't reall count. I have this dream of someday making myself a pair of socks. One of these days I will take a class and figure it out! Grama tried to teach me to knit, but I was too dense to pay attention to her back then.

I'm not new to quilting, but I haven't done anything but piece and quilt by machine. I'd like to do an applique quilt...I have a book with the pattern...it's 12 blocks of flowers and I'd do them in batiks..something else I've been collecting but not using....and I'd like to try a hexagon or apple core quilt too to do hand piecing...am I crazy? congrats on the new home and love your color boldness with the painting...I'd have a difficult time going so bold!

The new color is way better than the old color. Just love it. As for crafty things I'd like to try, I'd really wish I could paint. I really want to take watercolor lessons and hopefully this year I will.

I want to learn paper piecing.

I love the color you painted the living room.

I would love to be able to machine quilt and make it look nice. I tried it years ago and it was a flop.

Congrats on the new look in the home and the blog! A quilty thing I want to try is constructing a complex block that has set in seams. A non-quilty thing I want to try is tatting.

Congrats on your one year anniversary!!! The red color on your walls sure looks scrumptious compared to that ugly!!! What a difference!!!
I am 56 and I probably will never be able to do this, but my secret desire is to own a large industrial type quilting machine. I want to be able to quilt my quilts myself and hand quilting is just too slow for me. That is my "Bucket List"!!! Thank you for allowing me to be added to your list!!!

Love the new color on your walls- a big difference indeed! Hmm, I really should learn to hand quilt. I just love my machines too much....

i have the templates just never got around to making it.

Your room looks fabulous. Love the color. I would like to learn how to needle felt 3D objects, like bunnies, things that can stand or sit.

I would like to learn to knit those cute little circular dish clothes. They look so nice and they're functional!

The new wall color makes it look like a new room.
I would like to try wool applique in the next few months because I have seen table toppers and quilts in wool applique that are so beautiful. The wool texture is like no other.

I love the new color! WHat a change! It really opens up the room!
I guess I would have to say applique would be something quilty/crafty that I would like to try. I have seen some 'basic' quilts turned into something wonderful by just adding a couple of flowers, vines, or whatnot.
Good luck with the stairwell! Congratulations on being in your condo (on Saturday) 1 year!!

I like your color, it looks great. I would like to do more embroidery with my sewing machine, I have the Bernina 440 QE. Learn to make pincushion I see on the internet without a pattern. I see so many nice things but I need a pattern, I can't make it without a pattern.
