Sewing Saturday

Yesterday was a great sewing day. I picked a friend at 8 am and then off we went to another friend's house for the day. By 9:30 our machines were set up on her dining room table and needles, thread and fabric were flying. We did stop for homemade lasagna at lunch time, but that was the only time we weren't working. Eight hours later each of had a stack of projects done.

My first project of the day was my Tiny Quilt. I made the entire top and have it sandwiched. I’m trying to decide if I should hand quilt or machine quilt it. The quilt is about 12 inches x 15 inches. It went together easily and I can see myself making another one of these. They are addictive. Plus it's a lot of fun to finish a project in a couple of hours.
I had cut fabric for three Super-Sized Nine Patch quilts. Unfortunately I had cut one of the fabrics wrong. So what’s a quilter to do? I improvised. I made two Super-Sized Nine Patch quilts. With the leftover fabric I started a Crazy Nine Patch quilt. My friend let me dig through her green stash and found some fabric for sashing. So far I have three rows made. I’m going to find some additional fabric for cornerstones and an additional border.

We scheduled our next sewing day for July. In September we are going to spend a weekend together and have a mini shop hop one day and sewing day on the other day.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Sounds like you had a lot of fun, and got a lot done. It must be nice to have quilting friends nearby.

Wow, wow, wow! You've been a busy girl for the last few days. I'm inspired and impressed with all you've accomplished. I feel like a sluggard until I go outside and view my gardens. Ah, yes...that's what I've been doing. When the heat and humidity hit, I'll get back to my quilting. (and cleaning and writing and all those other things I put off during gardening season.)

I hope you are having a wonderful baseball season!
