You will notice I have a new photo in my header. This is my first Fat 8 Challenge project. It is a wall hanging based on the Plain Spoken pattern from The Modern Quilt Workshop book. The project in the book calls for 54 blocks, but I only used 48. I have ordered a book on beading on fabric and I think I'm going to do some beading on the quilt before I finish it. I've named it Crown Jewels.
I am so thrilled with how it looks. I think it is the WOW project for our dining room. I had mentioned to DH the other day I wanted to make several wall hangings instead of finding one WOW item. That way we could change the wall hangings depending on our mood. He was lukewarm to the idea. Once he sees this quilt he may change his mind.
Today was not a good day. I had an email from the office to work on a project. Then I couldn't concentrate on anything in my studio. Then when I went down to change the laundry I noticed the hot water was leaking so I had to call the plumber. While the plumber was here the human resources manager called me and said I need to get a letter from my doctor about my medical leave and when will I be able to return to work. Just to top it all off, DH called and asked me to do a special work project for him. At that point I was having an anxiety/panic attack and was feeling miserable.
What's a girl to do when she stressed? Well, make one of these:
In that bowl is Ice Cream Sandwich Ice Cream, Hershey's chocolate sauce, half of a sliced banana, fresh walnuts and fresh whipped cream. It was super, duper yummy!
The only good part of the day (at least so far) is I did get the bathrooms cleaned, the stairs vacuumed and the laundry done. I hope your day was better than my day.

The wall hanging looks fabulous! (And the sundae didn't look too bad either!!)
I would have made a bow for myself too - only I would have never told anyone :D LOL
Nice header - wish I knew how to do something "fancy" like that and my blog... oh the wishes! I could go on and on...

Love the wall hanging. It might pay to leave the beading until the machine quilting is done, otherwise you'll be dealing with beads with a quilting foot. Very yummy looking sundae.
Ooooh I LOVE the wallhanging, and it's so perfect as your header! I must learn to make my own header one of these days :)
The wall hanging looks great. I can relate to not being ready to go back to work, and to fixing myself a special feel better treat.
I'll echo what Linda said. And how dare the people (including DH) at work stressing you out when you were starting to feel better! Nice wallhanging.
Love the wallhanging...too bad about the rest of the day....
Plumbers aren't any fun at all, but that ice cream looks great!!
Love your new header/Wow piece. Surely Hubby will see it as a great idea once he sees it for himself. It's sure a good thing that ice cream is available for those moments when we just need a little comfort *s* Looks like a yummy treat!
Love the colors in the wall hanging. Ice cream is a great destresser.
Looking forward to our next sewing day.
