Man, did I have a cranky today! And so did everyone in my office. I admit I’m having a hard time with peri-menopause and have been in a super cranky cycle myself lately. But this morning every time I turned around people were grumpy, complaining and fighting. At noon I looked at my assistant and said, “I’m going out and find some happy pills.”
I really didn’t know where I was going. I just got in my car and started driving. My first stop was a consignment shop – two floors of furniture and various household items. There was an old Singer sewing machine in a cabinet for $45. It looked like it was missing lots of parts so I passed on it. I did see a cool desk that closes up that I liked, but until our basement reno is done I can’t buy anymore furniture. The next stop was grocery store. The store is being totally remodeled and I couldn’t find anything and in the mood I was in I was not going to start hunting for lunch.
My last stop was Merri Stitches. This is the shop where I bought my Janome. They are mostly a sewing machine and embroidery shop, but carry a few bolts of fabric. I walked and said to Mary, “I need some retail therapy.” She laughed and said that nearly every woman who had come into the shop had said the same thing. Then I told her how cranky everyone was in my office and she said the women had been saying the same thing too. OK, so maybe something was in the air today. I walked around for about 10 minutes. Then, while browsing the fabric two bolts of black print fabric caught my eye. I think I’ve only bought black fabric one other time. I finally chose one of the prints and a bright yellow to go with it. While Mary was cutting the fabric she told me that several other women had bought the same fabric today as well. So I guess I was going with the crowd. Here's a photo of my "Happy Fabric." I think I'm going to make a tote bag from it.
At least when I came home my new book, Take Along Totes, was in the mail so I have something to look forward when I climb under the covers tonight.
Today is the first of the month so that means I took a photo off my deck. You may remember I decided to take photos every first day of the month to record our first year in our new condo. Here are this month's photos. There is still a little bit of snow on the ground and I don't see any buds starting growing. I'm hoping for more changes next month.
So tell me, was anyone else cranky today? And, more importantly, does anyone have any good tips for dealing with the peri-menopause crankies and the emotional highs and lows? This roller coaster is driving me crazy.
One more thing - Happy Blogiversary to me. Don't forget to enter my give-away here.
Happy stitching! And I hope you didn't have a cranky day today!

Happy Blogaversary! I hope your grumpies have passed. I had a good day...but there HAVE been days when I wished I had one of those 'Earthlink' halos warning people around me of my mood! I just started Bonnie's Orange Crush mystery..and staring projects is my FAVORITE thing!
I've been cranky for a couple weeks according to Keith but then stress does that to me!
I love you photo project. I took photos all this year to create a book of Seasons for our first year in Minneapolis...all I have to do is get it put together...and find and print the other half of the photos.
well yesterday was the cranky day in Wisconsin, so maybe it moved in your direction and it'll be gone gone gone by tomorrow! great fabric, it's going to make a terrific tote bag!
It was also cranky in Texas. But I survived it. Maybe it's the barometric pressure changing. I have no suggestions for the peri-menopause... There were theories a few years back that was my problem but when I had to have a hyst, the peri turned to post, they gave me happy hotmone pills for a while then weaned that down. Good luck - and I LOVE your happy fabric!
Oh boy - I do hope those 'crankies' go away *s* Love the Happy fabric. Looks like something the doctor would have ordered.
Go the drugs!!!!. Only way to save the family and your sanity.
Hope you're feeling better today! That fabric is awesome - I absolutely love it - that should have perked you up a bit I hope!

Your happy fabric is awesome. Nothing like a little retail therapy to chase away the crankies. I think the crankies can be caused by weather...pressure changes sure. And also by a lack of sun, too many clouds, and staying inside toooooooo much.
That is wonderful Happy Fabric! I had the grumpies too - so we made chocolate chip cookies... hmm fabric or cookies.... I want BOTH!
Have a great day!
Maybe it was just the fact that it was April Fool's Day! I don't know, but I hope you and all your co-workers are better today. I do agree though retail therapy always seems to help! The winter is definitely getting to me so it could be that...where is spring?? But one happy thing the Red Sox won both games against the A's....yay!
Yes...me too! I am really grumpy about the ringsurf changes too!
I'm going to try bloglines as you suggested...thanks!
Hope your crankies are gone now...LOVE that fabric!

Peri-menopause is horrible. I hate feelign washed out and lifeless the whole time and being unable to sleep for long is drivng me mad. Mind you, this weather doesn't help. It's just as bad over here as it is there. We are having warm days and the trees are in bud, but there is still no sun.
Are you taking Evening Primrose? That is supposed to help.
Love that happy fabric - it just sings
Life is cranky at my house - thought it was the stress of moving - what a relief to blame it on the "cranky bug!"
Vitamin E helped me even out during the big P! Give it a try.

YIKES!
its good to see someone else has plenty of snow in their backyard still too. monday/tuesday snowed like crazy here. now it is 42 and the sun is great...but more snow this weekend. this is my first real winter, spent the last 35 years on kauai, hi. spring is going to be real special i can tell. but get lots of sewing done. i like the black fabric, althou to me it is more blue/yellow with a little black in the background. i love black fabrics plus batiks and bright saturated colors...thats what you get for living almost on the equator all those years....
I'm a couple of days behind you. Had my cranky spell today. Maybe it's the moon ~ I don't know, but all my little daycare kids have been cranky this week as well. Friday can't come anytime too soon!!
I'm crancky today! Wanna make something about it? LOL Just teasing you! Sounds like a good plan to just get out and find a happy pill! Enjoy your weekend!
